Texas chapter plans for 2H05

Hello,

Hope everyone has had a great summer vacation. Well school is back in
session and we are already in the second half of 2005. Time to think
what we will do as a group... from the perspective of the VSNA, Texas
chapter.

A few thoughts:
1. Ganesh Chaturthi is on September 7th. Of course it is the same week
as the labor day holiday. So should we plan on celebrating Chaturth
as a group? We can at least meet on a specific day at the temple if
everyone agrees.

2. Now that summer is almost over and we should have some cooler
weather in October, we could also do a picnic. Maybe this time
around we can drive somewhere close by. The last picnic in Allen
was of course excellent and I think everyone enjoyed that.

3. We should also plan on celebrating Deepavali as a group. Lets plan
for that. Maybe somebody can take the lead on that.

4. Also Dasara is another occasion that we can consider on
celebrating.

5. In terms of a plain social setting, we can also plan something for
December. After all it is the holiday season around here and would
be a good occasion to close the year.

Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas.

Membership checks for 2005

Hello,

At the beginning of this year we collected checks from many of you as
part of being members of the VSNA-Texas chapter. The money of course
is used for various gatherings etc.

As of today the checks have not yet been deposited. Our treasurer
Ms. Anu Benakatti has the checks with her. The bank account that we
had last year was opened by Shiva Patil. With the transitioning of the
treasurer resposnibility to Anu, we have not yet been able to open an
account. The primary reason for this being the fact that we do not
have a Tax ID for opening the account. We need to obtain a non-profit
Tax ID for our chapter. Anu is now in the process of getting one. As
soon as we have the Tax ID, we can open the account and deposit the
checks.

However many of the checks have expired. We would like to return these
checks to you and request you to send a new check instead. Anu will do
this as soon as we have opened the account.

So in case you have been wondering whatever happened to your checks,
now you know. Thanks for your patience and your support of this
chapter.

Rgds,
-Basavaraj
